Happy New Year Everyone!!!

Happy New Year to you all!  Hope you all have a great night and a wonderful 2013!  We'll be staying at home this year - just the four of us eating the traditional Italian New Year's meal of lentils (yes - I know - can you think of a less celebratory food - gruel maybe?) and waving a few sparklers in the garden.  Apparently most of the neighbours get their fireworks from Naples (no British Health and Safety spoiling things there) so we'll get a great free show at midnight.  Well - better go and shovel some more chocolate covered Torrone in my mouth!  Buon Anno!

Boxing Day Boats - colours that make me drool.

So on Boxing Day we ( Mum, me and children) dragged ourselves out for a massively long walk.  We went up through the famous Roman Pinetta (pine forest) then back down along the fisherman's canal.  On Christmas Eve I'd been running on the same route and had noticed hoards of fishermen along there, hauling in the fresh fish for the Italian Christmas Eve feasts (we had salmon tagliatelli and an enormous roast spigola, caught that morning), but on Boxing Day it was empty except for the odd boat tethered up to the railings.
I had to take a few pics as the colours of the paint and netting combined with the weathered textures were so beautiful.  I think I'm going to have to have a go at a nautical group in these colours!

Print & Pattern and me!

Oooh!!! So excited!  My Christmas designs are featured on Print & Pattern today!
What a great end to a good year!  Happy New Year Everyone!

Merry Christmas!

Here are a few jolly and festive designs of mine.  It's very challenging to think of new ways to do Christmas because there are so many elements that are unchangeable.  Palette is always a tough one.  It has to say "Christmas" at a glance so can't veer too far from the traditional reds, greens, silver greys and ochre golds.  I think a bit of taupe, duck egg blue, cranberry, dusky pink, olive and eau de nil go a long way towards making it look fresh.

Tigerprint Competition

Here you go!  My first Tigerprint Competition entry.  The theme was "Coming Together at Christmas".   I love making stuff for Christmas (see aptly posted blog entry below!) so that became my interpretation of  it.  Biscuits, Christmas dinner, scarves, gloves, hats (that's a lie actually - I can't knit - but it's in keeping with the general idea) and our beloved family Christmas ornaments. I make a lovely table center-piece too! (I'll treat you to a photo of that closer to the day.)  So, anyway - Hand-made Christmas!  Don't you think that last all-over would look nice on a biscuit tin?

Hand-made Christmas Owls by me and my little girl!

Isadora and I have been busy - making our annual Christmas tree ornaments.  Isn't Isadora's gorgeous!  She did all the sewing herself.  If we make one and buy a posh one every year until Isadora and Leo grow up, they'll have loads of lovely ornaments (and memories) to pass down to their children.  That's the plan anyway. (Sticking to the prevalent owl theme of 2012 this year.  Saw some in Accessorize and thought, "I could do that!" )

We love Society6!

Hi - So I've joined the ranks of the hardcore and set up a Society6 shop  I've placed a massive order for myself and all the nicest people I know have shown their support by ordering T-shirts, cushions, hoodies, bags and iphone cases/skins featuring my little Twitawoo Owl, my Paisley Pattern and the Birds and Blooms.
When I eventually get my new iphone5 (which I'm already entitled to as an upgrade but have so far avoided fetching as it involves speaking complicated Italian) I will happily dress it in its new Twitawoo case.  I may use it while wearing the T-shirt and carrying the bag at the same time.  I might forgo walking around with the cushion.
Here's a little look at some of what's on offer - very reasonable prices too!
